We are joyful to announce that the National Information Communications Technology Authority (NICTA ) had finally granted the Operator's License to the Voice of Peter TOROT Radio Network.
Our work begins with upgrading the existing Radio Stations in Kerema, Lorengau, Bereina to the standard already achieved in Rabaul then to go Nationwide from Port Moresby.
This is a momentous milestone in light of the double commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Beatification of Blessed Peter ToRot by pope St. John Paul II (1995-2015) and the 70th anniversary of His Martyrdom during WWII (1945-2015)
The “Voice of Peter ToRot Radio Network” is a homegrown media concept initiated by the Religious and Christian Community in consultation with the six Dioceses in Papua New Guinea scattered from the Papua region to the New Guinea Island Region. They are the Archdioceses of Port Moresby, Rabaul and Madang, Dioceses of Bereina, Bougainville, Kerema and Deanery of Lorengau-Manus Province. The Religious Communities includes the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, MSC Priest and Brothers, OLSH, MSC Sisters and Divine Word Missionaries (SVD).
The Radio Network is a project aims at fulfilling the National Government’s Public and Private Partnership policy to capture the Holistic or integral Human Development and also ICT Policy. It will strengthen this relationship and partnership between the Church and Government.
The purpose of this Network is to address the lack of information towards and communication with the rural population. Foremost in order to provide an avenue for the people to nurture their Christian lives, be partners in development and to provide an opportunity for people to access Government policy and development activities and become a better informed society.
